  • 6/5/2010  Class of '73 Gathering.  This note from Linda Quezada-Freshwater:

    Hello CHHS 73 alumni,
Hope your summer is going good so far.  Well its our annual summer gathering of the DSO concert at Kensington Metro Park this year which will be on Friday June 25 at 8 PM.  So bring your lawnchairs and coolers to this free event (there is a charge to get into the park unless you have a state park sticker).  I will be heading out to the park right after work to secure an area for us.  I will have a yellow & blue balloon tried to my chair so you can find us.  This event in the past has always been a great get together.  If there is anyone I might have missed sending this to please pass this along to them.

I look forward to spending a nice evening with friends, music and enjoying the outdoors.  If you have any questions just let me know or call me at home (313)565-8827.  See you in a couple of weeks!
    Linda Quezada Freshwater

  • 8/5/09  Today we regret to report to passing of our classmate Russell WardFrom his sister, Marilyn Ward-Schmidt '76, we received the following:  "I wanted to inform you that my brother, Russ Ward passed away on July 29, 2009 very suddenly.  He had a stroke about 7 years ago and had recovered pretty well from that.  He was living in Pinckney with our mother since the stroke.  He was delivering pizza's for a living since the stroke.  Anyway, even though he was on high blood pressure medicine, it was not really under control.  He died on the way to the hospital, we think it was either another stroke or heart attack.  He was 53 years old.  FYI.  The funeral has already taken place on 8/1/09.  If you want more details, let me know."  Marilyn can be contacted at mward_schmidt@yahoo.com

  • 2/23/06  Mrs. Makstutis will be going into Annapolis Hospital in Inkster, MI for knee replacement surgery on the 24th.  She will be there for 3 days followed by a week of inpatient physical therapy at Heritage Hospital in Taylor, MI.   After returning home she expects to have a visiting therapist as needed.  In her words,  "I am pretty well aware that it's a VERY painful process at the beginning but I consider myself a tough old broad so I'll do fine."   She is looking forward to her recovery so she can make the trip to London to see her new granddaughter.  If anyone would like to contact her she can be reached at her email address:  kemaks@comcast.net  Don't be shy, she likes to hear from her former students.

  • 2/13/06   Bob's Big Day   An email from Nancy Langeneckert (Bob's wife, I received this after many forwards) says our Mr Langeneckert is the Grand Prize Winner in a Meijer contest.  Tune into ESPN at half-time during the Michigan - Michigan State Game on Saturday, February 18th.  It starts at 4:00.  "He gets 45 seconds to try as many times as he needs to sink the ball.  First a simple lay-up.  After he does that, he's moved to the free-throw line.  With whatever time he has left, he keeps shooting until the ball goes in.  If there's more time left, he goes to the 3-point area for another shot, each shot worth more than the last.  No matter what happens during this time, the buzzer will sound after the 45 seconds, and he moves to the center court for one shot that's worth. ....quite a bit!"  Mr. Langeneckert also gets to have lunch with the Spartan team at the Kellogg Center first.
